Expectant and New Mom Programs:
Educational Programs:
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS, is the number one killer of healthy infants under the age of one year old. There are ways to protect your infant, such as by placing them to sleep on their back; not over clothing them at night; not placing pillows, stuffed animals, or other fluffy items in their bed; and keeping your baby healthy through regular well-child check-ups with their doctor. Please call for more information on SIDS or for class dates and times.
Prenatal Home Visit Program:
The Prenatal Visit program is for families experiencing an at-risk pregnancy whether the risk is medical, social, or economic. A specially trained registered nurse makes the informal home visit and the purpose of the visit is to provide support, education, and resources to assist families through the pregnancy. Follow-up visits are made as needed, and a newborn home visit is made following the birth.
Newborn Home Visit Program:
Having a baby begins a new journey for families. Often this journey begins with many questions! The Newborn Home Visit program can answer many of the questions new parents have. A specially trained registered nurse provides an informal, in-home visit. The visit includes a health assessment of mother and baby, education on topics such as: immunizations, feeding, age appropriate play, discipline, nutrition, childhood illness, and much more. The nurse will answer questions the new parents have, provide information, and make referrals to other community services as needed.
There is no cost for these programs.
